In this May 2026 Climate Restoration 2050 Mission Update, the Climate Restoration Alliance shared the next stage of the 25-year mission to restore the climate by 2050.
The session focused on the urgent work of the next five years: preparing the science, partnerships, public support, and financial infrastructure needed to scale climate restoration solutions by 2030. Ilan Mandel and the CRA team presented the three engines of the mission: Climate Restoration Impact Pathways, the 2050 Global Campaign, and Industry & Finance.
The update highlighted Localized Ocean Fertilization as the main Climate Restoration pathway currently being advanced, with trusted measurement, reporting, and verification as the next critical step. The team also shared progress on the Global Campaign, including the goal of engaging 1 million people, 100 organizations, and 100 Ambassadors in 2026, on the way to 1 billion people, 10,000 organizations, and 10,000 Ambassadors by 2030.
Participants also heard updates on the World Environment Day Art Contest, social media growth, the Rotary Initiative, grassroots outreach, partnership development, corporate founders, and practical ways people can take action now.
