To the People of the Earth:

Climate change is not a distant challenge. Across our communities, we are already experiencing its effects through changing rainfall patterns, droughts, floods, ecosystem degradation, biodiversity loss, pressure on food systems, and increasing risks to livelihoods.

But Africa is not only a continent experiencing climate change. Africa is also a continent with enormous potential to be part of the solution.

I am inviting you to learn about and become part of the growing Climate Restoration Movement, a global movement that goes beyond reducing future emissions and asks an important question:

What can we do to restore a healthy climate?

As an Environmental Scientist, Geospatial Engineer and researcher working on  climate change, environmental monitoring and nature-based solutions, I have seen how important it is to connect scientific knowledge with practical action. Satellite observations, environmental data and scientific research can help us understand where climate and ecosystem risks are occurring, but lasting
change also requires people, communities, institutions and organizations to come together.

Climate restoration is an opportunity to think boldly about the future of our planet while recognizing the realities and priorities of African communities.

I invite young people, environmental organizations, researchers, educators, community leaders, businesses, policymakers, faith communities and anyone who cares about the future of our planet to explore the Climate Restoration Movement and consider how you can contribute.

We do not all have to contribute in the same way. Some of us can contribute through research and innovation. Others are through restoring ecosystems, educating communities, developing technologies, influencing policy, supporting climate action, or simply starting conversations that inspire others to act.
The climate we leave for future generations will be shaped by the choices and actions we make today.

Let us move from simply responding to climate change to imagining and working towards a restored and resilient planet.

I invite you to learn more, ask questions, share knowledge and find your place in the Climate Restoration Movement.

Our future is not only something we inherit. It is something we help create.
