To the People of the Earth:
Restoring the climate will require removal at a scale that no single solution can deliver, and land-based ecosystem restoration is one of the pathways that can start moving gigatons now, using systems we already know how to build. That is the work I have been doing for more than 30 years in Brazil and Latin America: forest restoration, forest carbon projects, Water Funds and payments for ecosystem services, designed so that the carbon is real, measurable and durable, and so that the benefits reach the people who steward the land.
I want to be an Ambassador because the Alliance’s 2050 goal needs exactly what I can contribute: a bridge between science, policy and finance, and a voice from the tropical forest countries where much of the world’s restoration potential sits. Brazil holds the Amazon, the Atlantic Forest, the Cerrado and the Pantanal, and it has the institutions, the science and the communities to act at scale if capital and integrity standards line up.
Concretely, I can help open doors with governments, companies, development finance institutions, Indigenous organizations and Brazilian NGOs, bring technical rigor to how removal is measured and verified, and carry the climate restoration case into Latin American forums where it is still barely heard. I also care about this for a simple reason: the generation that inherits this atmosphere did not choose it, and we still have time to hand them a better one.
