Climate Restoration Ambassador for Global Movement Building

Fromer HS Biology teacher reached career peak as Issues Director for both the Global Health Council and World Federalist Association.

During his work up to his peers elected him to the Action Board of the American Public Health Association (120,000 US Health Professionals), and to Chair the United Nation’s Association Council of Organizations (over 110 US based NGOs with a collective membership of over 25 million Americans).

Now a ‘has-been’ Chuck volunteers leading weekly City and County Weed Warrior crews removing Non-Native Invasive plant species and doing native plant rescues when needed.

He and his wife Laura grow native plants to give to neighbors for building native wildlife corridors between parks. He’s now in his 8th year as wrestling Coach at a private Jewish school and co-Chair in Rotary District 7620 Environmental Committee and D7620 Peace Ctee Media officer.

He is now advocating for global campaign to celebrate the “Self-evident” “Truths” expressed nearly 250 years ago within the first two paragraphs of a Declaration of Independence that Abraham Lincoln said was” for all people, everywhere, for all time”.

He aspires to two traits offered by his mentors – “Loving persistence” and “ruthless compassion”. And admits his biggest faults are talking too fast, trying to tell people what they need to know – instead of what they want to hear, and too often going over that fine line…between being ‘holistic’ and ‘assholistic’.

Dear Friends!

My life’s commitment is to continue protecting and restoring the health of Earth’s natural systems with my time, energy, skills, existing physical resources, and knowledge while empowering and connecting others at whatever level or campaign they choose to participate.

My objective as a Climate Ambassador is to educate and empower everyone within every local community globally with the universal principles of “self-evident” “Truths” offered within “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God” proclaimed on July 4th, 1776, in the Declaration of Independence and the indigenous cultures before then. Nothing can be more important than our need to take care of nature and each other- by maximizing and sustaining human freedoms and security – for everyone now and all generations to come on this miracle planet gifted to us at its creation.

With my background as a biologist, coach, professional advocate for health, justice, and ‘the Golden Rule’ I will continue to devote my warrior spirit to finding things as an opportunity for action instead of an unfavorable feeling. And then address root causes instead of simply reacting to our flawed national and global governance/economic systems and structures. Prioritizing health (of mind, body, spirit, family, community, environment, government, economy) as humanity’s greatest priority.

I am a crew member on spaceship Earth based in Rockville Maryland. I am working with my city government, community associations, Rockville Rotary club, District 7620 Rotary Clubs, all political parties, and occasional actions on County, State, Federal levels while maintaining ties and communications with hundreds of US and foreign organizations working a various global issues requiring global solutions – prioritizing funding and achieving comprehensively the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Attempting to build a ‘Movement of Movements’ to end zero-sum competition between them for funding, memberships, access to media, and policy makers.

I have dozens of songs (like “Where is the Love” Black Eyed Peas) and quotes that ground, move, and inspire me that I will share these with anyone.

This quote I insist everyone memorize “Everything is connected, everything is interdependent, so everything is vulnerable…. And that’s why this has to be a more than whole of government, a more than whole of nation [effort]. It really has to be a global effort….” Jen Easterly. And ‘everything’ is an autological word!

And by ‘everyone’, I mean everyone.

What is Climate Restoration?

Everyone wants to restore a safe climate — one that humans have actually survived long-term. In this “pre-industrial” climate, which allowed us to develop agriculture and thriving civilizations, atmospheric CO2 never rose above 300 parts per million (ppm). Today, CO2 levels are 420 ppm. Yet now we know how to bring CO2 back down to pre-industrial levels—and could do so by 2050.

Ocean iron fertilization (OIF) appears to be the fastest, safest and most effective climate restoration solution although it was controversial for a time. OIF restores fisheries and other marine life while also reducing CO2 levels at the scale needed to restore the climate. It requires little or no public funding: instead, the process produces revenue and taxes from revived fisheries.

Restoring the climate requires removing and storing a trillion tons of legacy CO2 by 2050. Nature has stored 99 percent of all the CO2 on earth in the form of limestone, made of calcium and CO2 by shellfish and other marine organisms.1 Nearly half carbon dioxide by weight, limestone is an ideal, permanent storage system for this greenhouse gas.

Restoring our climate will require pulling a trillion tons of legacy carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by 2050. Farming seaweed, mainly fast-growing kelp and sargassum, can help achieve climate restoration.

Methane is a potent greenhouse gas that causes about 1/3 of today’s global warming. Using Enhanced Atmospheric Methane Oxidation (EAMO), we can accelerate these processes and reduce atmospheric methane to pre-industrial levels. This could rewind warming back to 2002 levels by 2050 and protect humanity from catastrophic levels of melting permafrost.

More and more people are realizing: Even if we reach net zero by 2050, or stay “well under” 2°C of warming, our survival will still be in serious doubt. That’s because there are already a trillion tons of CO2 in the atmosphere. This “legacy” CO2, emitted over the last 200 years, will continue to wreak havoc in our world—whether or not we decrease future emissions to near-zero.
