Gabrielle Xavier is a Brazilian Forest Engineer, researcher, and PhD candidate in Environmental Science at the University of São Paulo (USP). Her academic and professional career has focused on the relationship between people, territories, forests, and environmental change, with experience in geospatial technologies, remote sensing, environmental analysis, carbon projects, and sustainable land management.
Her current PhD research investigates urban vegetation, thermal comfort, urban heat islands, and socio-environmental inequalities in Brazilian cities. Her work explores how access to trees, green spaces, and better thermal conditions can vary across different socioeconomic contexts, contributing to a better understanding of how urban nature can support climate resilience and more equitable cities.
She is particularly interested in connecting scientific knowledge, geospatial technologies, environmental restoration, and public awareness. Through her work, she seeks to communicate complex environmental issues in accessible ways and encourage collaboration between researchers, communities, institutions, and decision-makers.
Based in Brazil, Gabrielle is passionate about nature-based solutions, ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, urban forests, carbon management, and the role of science and education in building a more sustainable future.
