I became interested in environmental and climate issues while studying Geography at Oxford University, where I graduated with first class honours in 1984. During the 1980s and 1990s, I combined professional and political work focused on the environment, including campaigning within the UK Labour Party and leading a local branch of the Socialist Environment and Resources Association.
Professionally, I worked in town planning and was involved in the early Local Agenda 21 process. I also contributed to environmental policy through the preparation of a “State of the Environment” report for a city council.
Since 2000, I have concentrated increasingly on bringing environmental and climate concerns into the international Buddhist community of which I am a part. In 2009, Windhorse Publications published my book, Saving the Earth: A Buddhist View. I currently teach meditation and Buddhism and continue to write on nature-related themes.
