Climate Restoration 2050: The Scale-Up Begun!
The October 1 Climate Restoration 2050 Mission Update marked an important shift in the development of the movement: from building awareness of Climate Restoration toward building the people, projects, capacity, and financing required to deliver it at scale.
Participants joined from across the world, representing 21 countries including Benin, Cameroon, Canada, Georgia, Greece, India, Israel, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Panama, South Africa, South Sudan, Switzerland, Uganda, United Kingdom, United States, and Zambia – representing climate organizations, schools, grassroots initiatives, businesses, research interests, and community networks.

Three Engines Moving Together
The meeting presented the emerging Climate Restoration strategy around three interconnected engines:
Global Movement — building a worldwide constituency for Climate Restoration through Ambassadors, grassroots organizing, Rotary, organizations, communities, schools, faith groups, businesses, and other networks.
Gigaton Pathways — developing and advancing restoration approaches capable of operating at the scale required to reduce atmospheric CO₂.
Industry & Finance — creating the project-development capacity and financing infrastructure necessary to turn Climate Restoration solutions into funded, operating projects.
The movement has set an ambitious trajectory: reaching 100,000 people in 2026 and building toward a global movement of one billion people by 2030.
From Ambassadors to Action
A major theme of the meeting was the growing role of Climate Restoration Ambassadors.
Participants were invited not simply to support Climate Restoration, but to bring it into their own communities and networks. Several responded with concrete commitments.
Melanie offered to help reach 100 organizations. Armstrong committed to taking the Climate Restoration mission into schools, communities, colleges, farming networks, beach-management units, and companies in Kenya. Other participants committed to personally inviting new people to future Mission Updates and sharing Climate Restoration materials through their networks.
This is an important evolution of the Ambassador model: from individual advocates toward a distributed network capable of activating organizations, communities, and projects.
Ambassadors With Projects
Another important development was the emergence of Ambassadors with projects.
When participants were asked who had projects they wanted recognized and potentially funded, several responded immediately. Projects mentioned included agricultural development, ocean-restoration technology, and a planned Climate Restoration Day during San Francisco Climate Week in April 2027.
This points toward an increasingly important role for the Climate Restoration Alliance: helping create a pathway through which restoration projects can become visible, build credibility, develop relationships, and eventually connect with appropriate sources of capital.
The long-term goal is not simply to raise money and then search for projects. It is to build a pipeline of Climate Restoration projects in advance — understanding the people, technologies, organizations, needs, and opportunities behind them — so that funding can move more quickly when resources become available.
Growing the Movement
The discussion also generated ideas for accelerating public engagement.
Participants proposed engaging prominent public figures such as actors and sports personalities; strengthening the human and community dimension of Climate Restoration; and finding better ways to connect climate solutions with the behavioral and cultural changes required for large-scale adoption.
Others highlighted the growing international recognition of the need for carbon removal and the opportunity for Climate Restoration to build on that shift.
The discussion reinforced a simple principle: a movement grows when people are given something concrete to do.
Participants were therefore invited to take immediate actions — speak with someone about Climate Restoration, become an Ambassador, introduce a company or supporter, join the grassroots campaign, volunteer, or invite others into the movement.
Building the Infrastructure for Scale
The emerging Climate Restoration ecosystem is increasingly connecting several elements that previously operated separately:
people → organizations → projects → capacity → funding → implementation
The task ahead is to build the infrastructure connecting those elements.
That means growing the Ambassador network, helping organizations formally align with Climate Restoration, identifying and developing credible projects, expanding technical and implementation capacity, and creating financing mechanisms capable of moving capital efficiently into projects.
The October Mission Update demonstrated that many of these pieces are beginning to appear simultaneously.
The next stage is to connect them.
25 years to restore the climate.
5 years to build the scale required to make it possible.
Original Invitation
Join us on Thursday, October 1, 2026, for a Climate Restoration Alliance’s Community Update on our 25-Year Mission to Restore the Climate.
9:00–10:30 AM Pacific
12:00–1:30 PM Eastern
This is an important turning point.
After years of building the vision, the science, the partnerships, and the early pathways for climate restoration, we are now moving from foundation-building into scale-up.
During this gathering, we will share our latest plans to help scale the emerging Climate Restoration Industry and present the Global Campaign strategy designed to mobilize millions of people to call for Climate Restoration, and billions of dollars to implement it.
We will discuss where the roadmap is heading, how teams and plans are being assembled, and what it will take to restore a safe climate within a single generation.
This is the moment when climate restoration begins moving from an idea whose time has come into a global movement with the capacity to act.
Join us to learn where we are, where we’re going, and how you can help.
You will have an opportunity to ask questions, offer perspective, and hear how others are engaging with the mission.
Please join us — and invite your friends, colleagues, partners, and networks as well.
