I was born in Nigeria, where my father was a doctor in a leprosy hospital. His recognition that a complete change of plan was necessary when a cure for leprosy was found, impressed me. This is what we need in climate action today!

In England I took an early interest in geology, especially the glacial periods of the Pleistocene, with climatic changes taking place naturally and at least 10 times slower than our current global warming.

Following academic positions in the UK, Libya and US, I became involved in environmental affairs, with a position at the Maine Department of Environmental Protection; as the designer/builder of my family’s passive solar home; and as a gardener.

For all of those I needed to know more about the climate, which began my continuing involvement as a climate writer.

In 1991 I joined the local Rotary Club, served as its President twice, and also volunteered on groundwater projects in Africa, Central and South America.

I retired as a hydrogeological consultant in 2012, joining Citizens Climate Lobby, building interest throughout Maine in Congressional efforts to shift away from burning fossil fuels. I hosted Climate Garden Parties at my home, inviting Peter Fiekowsky as speaker in 2021. From then on, I have advocated for Climate Restoration.
